Congratulations to Our 2024 Eco-Internships Graduates!

Since 2016, Eco-Internships has been a vital bridge between passionate young professionals and Canada’s environmental non-profits. With over 190 youth interns placed in more than 70 organizations nationwide, we’ve helped build capacity for grassroots initiatives while empowering the next generation of environmental leaders. Many of our alumni continue to drive positive change in their communities, applying the knowledge and experience gained through our program.

What sets Eco-Internships apart? We go beyond placement—we set youth up for success. Our Youth Support Program (YSP) provides specialized training in non-profit essentials, covering fundraising, communications, governance, project management and more! In addition, each youth is paired with a dedicated mentor, ensuring guidance and professional career development throughout their placement.

Welcoming Our 2025 Cohort—With Expanded Opportunities!

As we begin 2025, we’re excited to announce an expanded program that now offers two distinct streams:

  • Volunteer-Based Support – For youth eager to gain hands-on experience and contribute their skills to environmental organizations.

  • Paid Internships – Facilitated through wage subsidies and additional funding to provide financial support for interns.

We have received an abundance of youth applications from eager volunteers and are now seeking more Host Organizations to match them with! If you are an environmental non-profit interested in gaining valuable support from skilled and passionate interns, we encourage you to Apply Now.

Additionally, we still have a few fully sponsored spots available for host organizations in Ontario, Atlantic, and Northern regions. Don't miss this opportunity to strengthen your team and contribute to youth development in the environmental sector!

Introducing Leadership Labs: Networking & Skill-Building for Emerging Leaders

In partnership with the Ottawa Peace and Environment Resource Centre, we are thrilled to launch Leadership Labs, a hybrid networking and professional development series designed to equip young professionals with the skills and connections they need to thrive in the environmental sector.

On January 23rd, we kicked off our first in-person event at the Apartment Sustainability Office in Ottawa, ON. Twelve youth participated in a two-hour workshop on “Communicating as Leaders”, followed by an invaluable networking session with local environmental leaders from our Youth Support Program.

We are now gearing up for our next Leadership Lab on February 11th, focusing on Advocacy 101 with Daniel Brunette. We are seeking representatives from ENGOs engaged in advocacy work to join us for a one-hour session from 1-2 PM EST via Zoom. This is an excellent opportunity to:

  • Showcase your organization’s advocacy efforts on a national platform.

  • Connect with passionate young professionals eager to contribute to environmental causes.

  • Recruit potential youth volunteers to support your mission.

These sessions are FREE and open to all youth aged 18-30—but spots are limited! Don’t miss out—register now at https://www.ecointernships.ca/events to secure your spot!
